Obituary for Bernice M. Bain

Bernice (Driessen) Bain, 86, De Pere passed away peacefully early Saturday morning November 4, 2017, surrounded by her loving daughters Sherry, Carol and Bonnie. Earlier in the day Bob, Bill, and Jim were each able to have their cherished and memorable moments.

The girls planned a “Sleep Over" with mom like they have done for the last 20 plus years. During the early morning hours Sherry, Carol and Bonnie surrounded mom and reminisced, sang Christian songs, prayed, cried, and comforted mom. Once we settled down for the night, turned off the lights and said our good nights, mom peacefully joined Jesus and her "Lew."

She was born March 10, 1931 to the late Henry and Theresa (Van Elzen) Driessen. On September 3, 1951 she married Joseph “Lew” Bain at St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute. Bernice and Lew had celebrated 65 years of marriage together.

The Lord blessed Bernice and Lew with six children and her six children were blessed with a mother who loved them unconditionally, forgave them easily, and supported them always. Her God given gift was a servant’s heart. Everyone's needs came before her own. Bernice's love and compassion was shared with everyone she met, whether it was family, friends or anyone she happened to bump into.

Bernice enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She loved to go out for Friday fish fries, playing cards; going up north and treasured family gatherings especially holidays.

Bernice and Lew, as-well-as their partners Bert and Linda owned and operated Bain Brothers Farm which was later developed into Bain Brooke Estates.

She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she distributed communion during Mass as well as to the shut-ins.

She is survived by her children; Robert (Karen) Bain, De Pere, William (Cindy) Bain, De Pere, Cheryl (Tom) Smits, Greenleaf, Carol Schoepke, De Pere, Bonnie (Douglas) Hall, Somerset, WI., and Jim Bain, Savannah, Ga. Twenty grandchildren; Brendon, Mitchell, Stacie, Stephanie, Brooke, Gabriel, Anne, David, Brian, Andrew, Brian, Joseph, Steven, William, Sarah, Michael, Derek, Taylor, Noah, and Willow. Eighteen great grandchildren, Mason, Tristan, Hunter, Chancelor, Carter, Madison, Michael, Montana, Maverick, Briella, Keegan, Emily, Abby, Evan, Christian, Hunter, Addison, and Harper. Further survived by her sister Sharon Vande Hey, sisters in law; Rita Driessen, and Joanne Bongers Driessen, and Lew’s brother and his wife Charles “Bert” and Linda Bain. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lew, a granddaughter Anne, two Brothers Robert Driessen, Ronnie Driessen, and brother in law Bruce Vande Hey.
