Obituary for Diane (VanVonderen) Horner

Diane Mary (VanVonderen) Horner, 61, Sheridan, MI., formerly of West De Pere received her angel wings on Saturday August 26, 2017. She was born in Green Bay on May 26, 1955 to the late Donald and Doris (Whitman) VanVonderen. Diane was a West De Pere High School graduate, class of 1973. On May 6, 1989 she married Larry Horner in Cedar Springs, MI. They finally moved to Sheridan, MI., in the woods were Diane’s love for many animals continued over the years. She loved to watch all the different birds that came to the feeders every morning while she and Larry had their coffee while sitting on the deck. Diane was also there for family and friends to help out if needed.
Diane is survived by her husband Larry, son Erik (Michelle) Kulkoski, grandchildren, Nicolas, Alex and Logan, and daughter Amanda Horner (Ben Churchill), and her furry grandkids. She is also survived by her siblings, Julie White, West De Pere, Lori (Jim) Gillett, Green Bay, Dave (Carolyn) VanVonderen, and Bob (Barb) VanVonderen, both of West De Pere, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Diane is also survived by her furry companions Saddie, Saphire, and Heidi.
Diane was preceded in death by her mom and dad, brother in law Herbert “Fuzzy” White, nephew Jacob VanVonderen, and grandparents John and Mary Whitman and Robert and Mary VanVonderen. Diane’s wishes were to be cremated, with private services held in Sheridan, MI.
There will be a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Diane’s life on Saturday September 9, 2017 at Murphy Park Pavilion, corner of Dousman and Military Ave. from 12:00PM – 4:00PM. A small lunch will be served.
A special thank you to great niece Madyson who helped Aunt Diane eat while in the hospital. Madyson meant the world to Diane.
We were glad we made it there in time to hold your hand and talk to you before left us. “Fly High” Diane you deserve it. Till we see you again. We love you. – Lori and Julie.
