Obituary for Linden L. Burt

Linden L. Burt, 91, Hobart, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning October 21, 2017. He was born January 25, 1926 in the Town of Lawrence to the late Hugh and Emily (Zastrow) Burt. On March 19, 1952 he married Dolores Manders, and this past March celebrated 65 years of marriage. Linden proudly served his country from 1951 – 1953 in the U.S. Army.
He worked for Brown County Highway Dept. before going into farming and driving school bus for Lyle Lamers. In 1964 he became a Lock Tender for the Corp of Engineers throughout the Fox River Lock System. Linden became Lock Master at the De Pere Locks, and then transferred to Sault Ste. Marie and worked the Soo Locks before retiring in 1986. He enjoyed the outdoors, a good laugh, a good Old Fashioned, and a good game of cards. It was time spent with his family and friends that meant the most to him though.
Linden is survived by his wife Dolores, their children; Barb Johnson, Karen (Tom) Swink, Robin (Ed) Lewis, Randy (Lois) Burt, Pam (Gerald) Van Den Elzen, Michelle (Steve) Hartstern, and Kevin (special friend Stephanie) Burt. Linden’s grandchildren; Kim, Scott, Sally, Jeremy, Amanda, Samantha, Robert, Cearra, Carissa, his great grandchildren; Mikayla, Hope, Paige, Brett, Jersie, Jacob, Emma, and Dakota further survive him. His brother Roger (Diane) Burt, sisters in laws Laverne Burt, Audrey Manders, Mary Lou Van Kauwenberg, Betty (Stuart) Allen, and brother in law John (Betty) Manders, Jr. as well as numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his son in law Roger Johnson, his brother Leslie Burt, his sister Dorothy (John) Davis and brothers in law; Sam Manders, and John Van Kauwenberg.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere after 4:00PM Friday October 27, 2017, with a parish prayer service at 7:30PM to bring the evening to a close. Visitation will continue after 9:00AM Saturday at the church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM with Fr. Richard Getchel and Deacon Mike Vander Bloomen officiating.
