Obituary for Patrick James Fridland

Patrick James Fridland, 24, passed away at home, surrounded by his parents and brothers on Thursday, May 24, 2018, following a long, courageous battle with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The son of James and Teresa (Golden) Fridland was born on May 7, 1994, a minute after his twin brother William.

Growing up, Patrick loved playing all sports; he and his brothers could make a competition out of anything. He especially loved golf. He was a state qualifier, set the school record for lowest score at the state tournament, and was especially proud of his hole-in-one at Hilly Haven.
Patrick graduated from De Pere High School in 2012 and went on to school at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater until his diagnosis at the beginning of his senior year.

Patrick loved to spend time with his family and dogs. The family visited all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums during his childhood. He also loved get-togethers and bonfires with extended family. More recently, he loved trips to Las Vegas and playing Texas Hold-Em weekly with family.

He is survived by his parents, Jim and Terry, identical twin brother, William, and younger brother, John. He is further survived by his extended family, aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom he was very close with.

Patrick was preceded in death by all four of his grandparents, Jim and Connie (Oppen) Fridland, and Patrick and Blanche (Berken) Golden, as well as his very special Aunt Debbie and other members of his extended family.

Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, beginning at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 29, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 5:00 PM with Bishop Robert Morneau and Father Tim Shillcox, O.Praem officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Mount Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Jon Brandt and the Hematology-Oncology Team and all of the staff on the tenth floor at St.Vincent Hospital. With their support and Patrick’s unwavering determination, he fought a truly unprecedented battle. The family would also like to thank Sheila Deluca and everyone at Resurrection for their prayerful support.
