Obituary for Thomas W. Snyder

On Wed, April 11, 2018, the family of Thomas William Snyder said good-bye to their loving father, devoted husband, and best PaPa in the whole wide world. His battle with Cancer ended at his home, surrounded with love and peace.
Tom was born September 29th, 1948 to Lola (Jean) and Frank Snyder. He met and married his one and only love, Nancy Muchowsky in 1968 and together they built a family of 3 children; Eric Snyder (Anna), Debi Lieuwen (Gary), and Beth Ruhland; and 6 grandchildren; Jack, Kyle, Ella, Ryan, Cooper, and Owen. Family was most important to Tom and it was one of his greatest joys to have all the kids and grandkids living close – all in the same cul-de-sac! There were weekly family dinners together and many gatherings and afternoons spent on the porch or out on the deck, simply enjoying each other’s company. We were blessed to have so much time with him on a daily basis. He was present for as many of his grandkid’s activities as possible; always cheering them on. He supported his children and grandchildren selflessly and unconditionally and he was extremely proud of all their accomplishments. With Tom’s help, his daughter, Debi, opened and operated Polka Tots in Pulaski for 22 years. This was the daycare center the grandchildren grew up in and many family members were involved in its operation over the years.
Tom grew up on a rural Oconto farm in a big family with 8 siblings; Mark (Kathy), Jane, Mike, Dan (JoAnn), Sue (Mike), Roger (Karen), Bruce (Debbie), and Doug (Diane). Hard work was learned early and continued throughout his life. He worked for 50 years at Pomp’s Tires, starting in the tire shop at the age of 19 and working his way up to Corporate Treasurer. During his early years at Pomp’s, Tom completed his Bachelor’s degree at UWGB. He was a valued and loyal employee and coworker and became a part of the fabric of the company. He regretted not being able to physically travel to his office one more time to say good-bye to the many friends he had made along the way.
Tom was an avid Packers Fan and held season tickets for many years. He loved to arrive early and tailgate before the games, no matter how cold the weather. He also loved Friday fish fries at Gipper’s and dinner with family at The Union Hotel. You could often find him at a Cougars’ show, proudly supporting his son Eric and daughter-in-law Anna.
Tom was fearless and strong; he was the rock of the family. He had many obstacles put in his path over the years and he tackled each one, head on; The motorcycle accident that put him in his wheelchair, the stroke a few years later, another stroke in 2018, and then the cancer diagnosis that ended his life. He never gave up; he never stopped fighting.
Tom is preceded in death by his mom and dad and his brother, Mike. He is survived by his wife Nancy and three children; Eric (Anna), Debi (Gary) and Beth, and six grandchildren; Jack, Kyle, Ella, Ryan, Cooper, and Owen. He is further survived by seven siblings and many cousins and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street after 4:00PM Friday April 27, 2018. A service of remembrance will take place at 7:00PM. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations for St. Jude and The Ronald McDonald House Charities. A celebration luncheon will be held on Saturday, April 28th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Green Bay Distillery.

The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Groteluschen and the staff at Green Bay Oncology, as well as our caring team at Unity Hospice for your help, guidance, warmth and compassion in his final days.
