Obituary

Bede C. Baeten, 93, Green Bay, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 29, 2015. He was born May 27, 1922 in West De Pere to Peter G. and Mary (Hoffman) Baeten. Bede was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942, and served in Australia, New Guinea, and the Philippines. He came home in 1946. On June 26, 1947 he married Evelyn Gerlikowski, and they shared 65 years of marriage until her death on January 10, 2013. Bede and Ev were members of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay. Prayer was very important to them both, they prayed together daily. Bede worked as a wood pattern maker for 38 years, 28 years at Northwest Engineering Co. and 10 years at Thews. Bede's happiness came from wood carving, and building. He had built 4 Grandfather clocks, and carved many birds and ducks. The family cottage at Lake Mary was a place that brought Bede and Ev much happiness, whether it was walking in the woods, or sitting on the porch swing and watching the boats go by. When Ev died, Bede lost interest, and just wanted to "Go Home" and be with Ev. He said he couldn't live without her. He is survived by his sons; David (Julie) Baeten, Ronald Baeten, and his two grandchildren; Christopher and Katie. Bede is further survived by his siblings; Jean Shaughnessy, Minnesota, Paul (Pat) Baeten, De Pere, Allen (Janice) Baeten, De Pere. and sister in laws; Mary Eileen Baeten, Charlotte, NC, and Betty Baeten, De Pere. Bede is further survived by Ev's family; Gerry (George) Brunette, and Betty Gerlikowski. Bede was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Mark Baeten, Cyril Baeten, Tom (Carol) Baeten, infant sister Rita and infant brother Harold. Three Brothers in law; Patrick Shaughnessy, Ambrose Gerlikowski, and Alden (Eunice) Gerlikowski. Friends may call at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1224 12th Ave. in Green Bay after 8:00am on Monday August 3, 2015. The Mass Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am with Fr.
