Daniel C. Culbertson, Sr., 84, of De Pere passed away early Tuesday morning March 24, 2015 from complications of pancreatic cancer. The son of Daniel and Ruth (Yaeger) Walmer was born June 20, 1930 in Lebanon, PA. His parents died at an early age and he was raised by his aunt Bessie Walmer Culbertson and her husband Hugh. On August 15, 1948, he married Nancy Balfanz at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in De Pere. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2014.
Dan retired from Nicolet Paper Company in 1985 at age 55. He was a daily member of the YMCA in Allouez, where he swam. He was an active trombone player and played with De Pere City Band, the Allouez Village Band was in the Last of the Big Bands, as well as the Kewaunee Chamber Maids. He loved hockey, golf and boating. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was an active participant in all the kid's events.
His family includes his children, Daniel (Jean) Culbertson, Jr., Crandon, David Culbertson, Houston, Terri (Ron) McCracken, De Pere, grandchildren, Jennifer Murphy, Matthew and Paul Culbertson, Angela Weber, Ben and Joel Culbertson, Cory and Ryan McCracken, 17 great grandchildren, 2 brothers-in-law, Bob and Larry LaCombe, a sister-in-law, Beryl Anders, and two nephews, Tom and Bill Anders. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his son, Jeff, parents-in-law, Ellen and Don LaCombe, and an uncle Norman Walmer.
