Obituary

Gayle Hendricks was taken into the arms of the Lord on Tuesday November 17, 2009, after a fifteen month courageous struggle with ALS. Gayle was born in De Pere to her loving and always supportive parents, Mr. James and Ruth Cornell on November 22, 1949. Gayle graduated from West De Pere High School in 1968 and went on to study Home Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She married the love of her life, Mr. John Hendricks on November 26, 1970 in De Pere. Her faithful companion John never left her side and was the pillar of strength throughout their nearly forty years of marriage. After giving birth to her three beautiful daughters, Gayle was a stay-at-home mother, instilling each of her daughters with the love and compassion she had for everyone. Her daughters were the center of her life and will take with them the lessons that Gayle took the time to patiently and lovingly teach. Gayle later worked outside the home starting her own small business Clean-A-House , which was the first, team home cleaning service in the Green By area. Gayle also was her husband John's faithful business partner for years traveling the nation and the world with John. The success of these business ventures gave Gayle much pride and continues to serve as an example of the dedication she had to her career and family Gayle's active social life was her identity. She enjoyed the wonderful vacations and week-end getaways with her husband, John and weekends in Door County with her family. She enjoyed spending summer days around the pool with her children and later grandchildren and working in the garden. She enjoyed morning coffee with her Mother Ruth. She enjoyed card games with her brothers and celebrating holidays at her home. She enjoyed her birthday clubs, her Anniversary Club, her Monday Night West De Pere "Support" Group, her Domino Club with the ladies of Lorrie Way, and her friends in the Service league of Green Bay. As a woman of deep faith, she enjoyed church on Sundays and always breakfast after. But most of all, she enjoyed days at home chatting with friends and family over coffee, donuts, breakfast cake, or McDonald's parfaits. Gayle will be missed by all. She brightened everyone's day with laughter, sarcasm, wisdom, and genuine compassion. She will be missed most by her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Mr. John Hendricks. Her three devoted daughters; Gina Benz, Anna Buboltz, and Carissa Nusbaum, and their husbands, Darrin Benz, Chad Buboltz, and Bill Nusbaum Jr. The grandchildren who were the sparkle in her eye to her last days Damon Benz, Ava Benz, Leo Benz, Ella Buboltz, Charlie Buboltz, Billy Nusbaum, Benjamin Nusbaum, and her namesake Abigayle Nusbaum. Her loving parents Mr. James and Ruth Cornell. Her sisters and brothers Pattie Nelson, Greg (Jane) Cornell, Mike (Jane) Cornell, John (Debbie) Cornell, and Joel (Cathy) Cornell. Her in-laws Rosemary (Bernard) Schwartz, James (Dawn) Hendricks, Robert G. (Donna) Hendricks, Betty (Dave) Prust, Mary Jane (Donald) Hock, Mary Ann (Don) Kanaugh, Gary (Stella) Hendricks, and Tom Hendricks. Many special nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her mother- and father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hendricks, her brother-in-law Mr. Edward Hendricks, and two very special grandmothers with whom she shared a special bond, Granny Andersen and Granny Cornell. Friends and family may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME of De Pere on Friday November 20, 2009 from 4 8 PM. A parish prayer service will conclude the visitation at 8 PM.
