On the 64th anniversary of her marriage to the late Dean French, Ione C. French, 83, of West De Pere passed away peacefully surrounded by her children. She was born October 9, 1934 to the late Otto and Wilhelmina (Vandenberg) Verstegen. A native of Little Chute, Ione lived in West De Pere, raising her children, while working at the Lee Store, and later at Sears. She volunteered her time at Curative Workshop, where she received a volunteer award. Ione also volunteered much of her time at St. Joseph Church and School (Our Lady of Lourdes) as well as area hospitals. It was the time spent with her children and grandchildren that meant the most to her though.
Ione is survived by her children; Dan (Lynne) French, Dale (Polly) French, D'Anne Kozloski, D'Onne (Jim) Murray, as well as her grandchildren; Kayley (Jared), Tom (Kendra), Alyssa (Tom), Hannah, Cori'Anna (Tyler), Abigail, Michael, and great granddaughter Cohley.
She is further survived by her brothers; Roger (Eunice) Verstegen, Robert (Terri) Verstegen, brother in law; Harold Mischler, and sister in law Sharon (Gary) Steiner, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ione was preceded in death by her husband Dean in 1976, a son Dean Jr., a great grandson; Colton, as well as siblings; Jean (Henry) Grosek, Yvonne Heitpas, Beverly Mischler, and Dean's family; Wayne (Barb) French, and Bert (Joan) French.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere from 6:00PM – 8:00PM Thursday June 14, 2018. Visitation will continue after 9:00AM Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM.
