Jerome J. Pauwels, 87, passed away after a short illness on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Born December 6, 1934, to George and Margaret Pauwels, Jerry called West De Pere "home" his entire life.
A champion bowler and a "regular" at Oak Street Café, Jerry enjoyed attending Packers games, watching auto races and Brewers games, and boating. He especially loved driving his red '99 Ford Mustang GT convertible!
Jerry retired from Diana Manufacturing (Kendall) in 1997, after 44 years, having never missed a day of work. His pride and joy was his cottage "up north" where he could build bonfires, drink a beer, and play with a chainsaw. His family was always welcome at the cottage.
A good son, Jerry took care of his mom so she could live at their family home until she was 101 years old. Jerry spent his last few years living with, and being taken care of by, his brother Al.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Jeanne, and best friend "Zeke" Van Lanen. He is survived by his brother Al, sister Norma (Jim) Frink; 6 nieces and nephews: Chrissy, Mitch, Bob, Bill (Margaret), Brian, and Julie (Dale); as well as 8 grand nieces and nephews: Megan, Marley, Michelle, Aaron, Matthew, Justin, Ethan, and Cyrus.
Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, after 3:00PM Wednesday, February 23, 2022, until time of service at 6:30PM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
The family extends their appreciation to the amazing staff at St. Mary's Hospital 5th Floor COVID and Comfort Care units, and Heidi from Unity Hospice.
Family requests face masks be worn for those attending the service.
