Obituary

Jack Van Enkenvort, 65, De Pere passed away on Saturday August 21, 2010 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born November 26, 1944 to the late Bernard and Agnes (Minten) Van Enkenvort. On April 15, 1983 he married Sue Malliet. Jack was a graduate of West De Pere High School. He was a veteran of the United Stated Army. He was instrumental in the De Pere Little League program for over 45 years. While serving as President of the Little League program Jack over saw a lot of improvements to it with the help of many. Jack retired from the De Pere Fire Department after 28 years of service. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and being with his children and grandchildren. Jack liked getting together with friends for breakfast at the Nicolet Restaurant. Jack is survived by his wife Sue, his children; Kim (Ryan) Metzner, Michelle Pigeon, Lisa (Butch) Smits, Patrick Van Enkenvort, and Beth Van Enkenvort. His 4 grandchildren; Jason and Chris Smits, and Cole and Maya Metzner. He is further survived by his sister Phyllis (William) Schneider and their children; Bill and Wayne Schneider and Vicki Freund. Sue's family further survived Jack; his mother in law Marcella Malliet, his brother and sister in law; Greg Malliet, and Chryl (Jim) Wallace, and his two nieces Caylynn, and Jamie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his niece Sandra, nephew Shane, and his father in law Gordon Malliet. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from 4 8pm Tuesday August 24, 2010. The De Pere Firefighters will stand Honor Guard throughout the visitation. There will be an Abbot Pennings Council 3955 Knights of Columbus service at 7:15pm followed by a parish prayer service at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue after 9am Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Community, Pope John XXIII Circle, De Pere until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11am with Fr. John "Jack" Harper officiating. Full military rites will be conducted immediately after Mass. Burial for Jack will take place at 2pm at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in De Pere.
