Marlene A. Greatens, 81, went to her heavenly home peacefully on April 5, 2017. The daughter of Jacob and Genevieve (Pecore) King, was born November 30, 1935 in Green Bay. She was a wife, mother, and homemaker for 61 years with her husband, Joseph B. Greatens.
Marlene is survived by her last of nine siblings, Dale King, Green Bay; sisters-in-law Marilyn King, Manitowoc; and Rena King, Green Bay; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Marie (Gordon) Heimke; Harriet (Larry) Vanden Heuvel; Donald (Jackie); Larwin; Wayne (Sally); Gerald; Glen and Sharon; and her beloved grandchild, Brandon Greatens.
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Joseph; her children, Julianne and Brien Yost, Jody Laehn, Jeff Greatens, Jon and Tami Greatens, Jay and Jessica Greatens; Joseph Greatens; and her grandchildren; Brett, Jenna, and Zachary (great), Jared and Janna Yost; Taylor, Spencer and Connor Laehn; Jacob and Josh Greatens; Gavin, Micahjay and Abigail Greatens.
She loved God, her family, her home, her garden and her music. She was devoted to her husband, her six children and their spouses, her twelve grandchildren, and great grandchild. Her love extended to her siblings, nieces, nephews and friends. She genuinely cared about their lives and wellbeing by listening, sharing her wisdom, and debating various topics and ideas. She tended to all of them like her garden, caring and nurturing them as they grew, never giving up on them.
A visitation will be held on April 10, 2017 from noon to 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Parish, 145 St. Joseph Dr., Oneida. A funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 PM, Father Willard Van De Loo will be officiating. Burial will be at the Oneida Cemetery at a later date.
