Obituary

Polly Ann Carlson, 83, passed away peacefully at Residence by Rennes in De Pere on February 27, 2026, with family by her side. She was born in Marinette, Wisconsin on April 15, 1942, to Raymond and Stella (McWilliams) Johnson. Polly was a graduate of the Marinette High School class of 1960 and received her Bachelor of Science in Education from UW-Madison in 1964. She married Robert Carlson on June 12, 1966, with whom she built a life and family in Ashwaubenon.

Ever an educator, Polly especially enjoyed teaching young children and helping them find joy in learning. She was a substitute teacher in Ashwaubenon elementary schools for many years and later worked as an early childhood educator and volunteered at local preschools. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren, but she also loved reading, knitting, traveling, gardening, and cheering on the Packers.

Polly is survived by her husband Robert; their children, Mark Carlson and Susan (Adam) Zeuske; grandchildren, Clara Stauber, Sebastian Stauber, Lilah (Erik) Hukriede, and Jair Zeuske; sister, Donna Nelezen; sister-in-law Sherry (Larry) Polzin as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Mary Jane (Vern) Dougherty, Carol (Ken) Robert, Lois (Kurt) Peterson, and Eldon Ray (Kathy) Johnson.

The family is being assisted by Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere. A special appreciation to the staff at Rennes for the incredible care provided to Polly over the last few years. A celebration of Polly’s life will be held at a later date.
