Obituary

Alan Robert Mortensen, 64, passed suddenly of natural causes on April 18, 2023. He was born on March 20, 1959, to Anthony and Arvella (Katers) Mortensen. Alan attended Premontre Highschool and West High School. He grew up on the west side of Green Bay in the Locust/ Platten neighborhood and always told stories about the kids he grew up with.

Alan married Barbara (Kuschel) Mortensen in 1984 and moved to Fall River shortly after. They had four daughters, Alanna, Hannah, Allie, and Toni, Barb passed away in April of 2009. He then married Carla (Lieb) Mortensen on September 16, 2017.

Alan owned Town and Country printing in Columbus for over 20 years. Before he moved back to De Pere in the 2006, he was a member of the Fall River School Board and was a lifetime member of the Rotary Club.

He loved nature as a child and had a family cottage in Red Banks. That love stayed as an adult, where he enjoyed spending time at his cottage on Big Lake in Shawano Co. When he was younger, he liked the "Johnny go fast" boats, but more recently he enjoyed putting around the lake on his small electric pontoon. Along with boating, Alan enjoyed rides on the ATV and on his golf cart with his dog, Ivory. He always made the best bonfires. Alan was also an avid martial artist, having a 5th degree black belt. Alan taught for numerous years in Beaver Dam, where he was a co-owner of a karate dojo. He liked escrima, which is the use of weapons, and would practice his forms daily.

He also cherished the yearly family vacations to Disney World. He has gone almost every year with Carla since they met. He was so surprised at how much he enjoyed staying at the Disney Villas. The last trip to Disney was one he truly loved because he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.

Alan is preceded in death by his parents Anthony and Arvella, as well as his first wife, Barbara.

He is survived by his wife, Carla, his children, Alanna (Rodney) Jerome, Hanna Mortensen, Allie Mortensen, and Toni Mortensen, his grandchildren, Blaize, Gydon, Lowker, and Soleah Jerome, and Kian Bennet. He is further survived by his siblings, Richard (Patricia) Mortensen of Ohio, Jeanne Mortensen of Green Bay, Nancy (Daniel) Wray-Farmington of New Mexico, James (Donna) Mortensen of Sheboygan Falls, John (Rosemary) Mortensen of Green Bay, and Carrie (Joseph) Lehner of Appleton. He is also survived by his best friend Don Jolly, who he has known for over 55 years, as well as numerous other family members and friends.
