Alice Speaker Noble passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2009 surrounded by her family. Alice was the youngest child of Dr. George and Mary Speaker, born on May 30, 1930. She was raised in De Pere, where she met her husband, Frank, when they both worked at the C.A. Lawton Co. Alice's greatest pride and joy were her 11 children, 21 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Granny" and was honored when the most recent arrival was named Alice. After raising her family, Alice enjoyed her work as a cashier at Martin Hardware for many years. Granny was an avid Packer Fan and a diehard conservative who loved her country. She loved to share family pictures and stories. She was a source of strength and joy to all who knew her and will be sadly missed. Granny was especially looking forward to celebrating with her family at the September wedding of her youngest son.
She is survived by her children; Briggs and his special friend (Sherry), Fred, Mary (Rick) King, Barbara (Larry) DeCleene, Drs. Walter (Susan), Nancy (Joe) Vander Zanden, Richard, Dr. Gary (Lori), Chuck (Erin), and Matt (fianc Erin). She is further survived by her grandchildren, Alex Noble, Josh (Jill) King, Andy (Wendy) King, Zach (Ann) King, Libbi King, Charlie (Autumn) DeCleene, Molly (Nate) Vandervest, Brittany, David, Jack, and Charlotte Noble, Ashley (Chris) Hendricks, Patrick (Jess) Vander Zanden, Bridget Vander Zanden, Grant, Emily, Edward, Claire, and Ian Noble, Griffin and Hudson Noble. Surviving great-grandchildren are: Taylor, Keegan, Madison, Charlee, Sam, Jackson, and Alice. She is also survived by her siblings Ellie (Dick) Moe and George (Mary Lou) Speaker, sisters-in-law Betty and Pat Speaker, Dorthea and Audrey Noble.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank, infant son, Edward, siblings and in-laws Rosemary and Carl Gerke, Jim Speaker, John and Patricia Speaker, Walter Noble, William and Mary McCorkle, Bob and Nancy Evans, Poly Noble, Charlie Noble, George and Emily Burt.
Visitation for Alice will be on Monday, September 7, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere. Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 8th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father John H.
