Obituary

Alice Schmidt passed away May 16, 2021. The daughter of the Late Carl C. Maurer and Helena (Steinburg) Maurer was born December 20th, 1925. She was a graduate of De Pere High School, On May 4th, 1946, she married Robert O. Schmidt at St. John Lutheran Church of De Pere, where she was a lifelong member. Robert passed away on December 4th, 2009. Alice farmed with Bob for 33 years in the town of Glenmore. She was also an employee at Prangeway East Green Bay. She liked to travel and take daily walks while her health permitted. Alice liked reading, cooking, and baking. She liked to share this food and bake goodies with her family. There was always a good supply of baked bars and cookies in Grandma's freezer. She also enjoyed time spent at family get-togethers on holidays. Alice was privileged to spend so much time with granddaughters Leah and Shannen when they were growing up. Alice had a strong faith in her Lord and was quick to offer a prayer for anyone in need. She was also proud of her German heritage and enjoyed teaching German songs to Leah and Shannen. Alice is survived by her daughter Sally Campshure and a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Dawn Schmidt, and their daughters and son-in-law Leah and Paul Steckart and Shannen Schmidt. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Jaxon and Parker Steckart who she loved dearly. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two brothers; Melvin (Lucille) Maurer, Carl (Noretta) Maurer; two sisters Josephine (Leonard) Grohusky and La Vern (Harold) Thiele. She is also predeceased by her in Laws, Otto and Elizabeth Schmidt and Bob's sisters and brothers. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Aurora In Home Hospice, including Kayla, Mary, Alicen, Stefanie, and Leah. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established for Alice.
