IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alvira Catherine
Fink
March 8, 1932 – December 18, 2025
Alvira Catherine (Cayo) Fink, 93, De Pere, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Alvira was born in De Pere, WI on March 8, 1932, to the late Delmer & Catherine Cayo. Alvira grew up in De Pere, attending De Pere High School until West De Pere High School was built. She married Melvin Fink at St. Boniface Catholic Church on February 6,1951. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1973. After losing her husband in her forties, Alvira began working at Proctor and Gamble, where she remained until her retirement on February 13, 1996.
Alvira moved to Little River while still working at P&G, to enjoy her home on the Bay and spend more time outdoors. She lived there until her late 80's, regularly driving down to the Green Bay area to attend Church and spend time with family. She moved to De Pere, living on her own until the very end. She enjoyed spending time with the people she loved, especially as her family grew. She was a proud member of De Pere Woman's Auxiliary Club, and was recently awarded a pin recognizing 65 years of service.
Known lovingly as Grandma Ellie, Alvira had a remarkable memory. She delighted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with stories of their parents' childhoods and fondly shared memories of her own - especially time spent on her grandfather's farm as a kid or "chumming around" with her brother John in her teens.
Alvira was a strong, independent woman, deeply grounded in her tremendous faith and devotion to God. She was baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke freely and openly about her faith.
She is survived by her children; Kay Hartjes, Tom Fink, Rick (Darlene) Fink. Grandchildren: Terry (Corey), Chad (Noel), Angela(Derrick), Aaron, Garret(Katie), Lauren, Clayton, Daniel(Monique), Zachary, Jessica, Jared(Kelleigh), Sarah(John), and Rachel, Great Grandchildren; Trevor(Madison), Taylor(Will), Blake (Lauren), Desiree, Fletcher, Jaxon, Cooper, Nora, Ellie, Benjamin, Arleigh, John Jr, Tristan, Ethan, Lucius, Great-Great Grandchildren; Hudson, Sullivan, Silas, and Alvira.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Phyllis, Viola, and John, her husband, Mel, two children, Bruce and Celeste, son-in-law, Wayne Hartjes, and two granddaughters, Hannah Rose Fink and Brittany Graves.
Friends are invited to join in celebrating Alvira's life at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 27, with a service at 3:00.
Alvira has specifically requested that everyone attend in bright colors to celebrate her life. Reminding us not to cry because she's gone, but to rejoice because she's happy where she is now. She was a truly remarkable woman and we will miss her dearly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Unity Hospice, and Bellin Hospital for their compassionate care and support.
