IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Andrene Nona
Milz
September 25, 1945 – January 16, 2025
Andrene Nona Milz, age 79, passed away in Green Bay, WI, on January 16, 2025, after five years of a broken heart.
Born in Milwaukee WI, to James and Luella Mason; Andrene spent many summers with her brothers Austin, Dale and Clarence in Hollandale, WI, with extended family after their father died at a young age. She graduated from Bay View High School and went on to complete nursing school in Rockford, IL. She was back home in Milwaukee where she met the love of her life, William "Bill" Milz at a bowling alley. They were wed in 1967.
The Milz family moved several times before settling in Marinette, WI. Andrene worked third shift to be home for the kids when they left for school and there when they came home. She was an avid crafter; she loved quilting, sewing and knitting. She bowled in several leagues in Marinette and Menominee. Andrene also loved to get together with her girlfriends and play cards and gab.
After retiring from more than 30 years of nursing and Bill from teaching, they settled into retired life in Green Bay. Andrene lovingly cared for Bill as he slowly declined into Dementia and Parkinson's disease. Bill passed in early 2020, just as the world was locking down for the pandemic. Grief stricken and secluded, her health began to fail as well.
Andrene is survived by her three children, Elizabeth (Steve) Primrose of Machesney Park, IL, Gretchen Milz of Marinette, and Bryan (Amy) Milz of Green Bay. She enjoyed being an active part in her grandchildren's lives, attending events when able, and playing games when visiting. Her grandchildren Jacob, Abigail, William, Connor, Lily, Madelyn and Daniel will miss her tremendously. Andrene is also survived by her loving brother Clarence (Suzanne) Mason of Bethlehem, PA, who continued to look out for her and support her throughout her life.
Andrene is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Austin and Dale, and her beloved husband, Bill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Autumn's Promise Assisted Living and Unity Hospice for their care, as well as Ryan Funeral Home of De Pere for their assistance.
Andrene and Bill worked hard when life dealt them a challenging hand growing up, and truly valued education. They recognized that it is important to remove barriers for student learning, and in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate any support given to students in need.
Donations can be made to Green Bay East High School "Eats for East", 1415 E. Walnut, Green Bay, WI 54301, which provides meals for students in need, or to Marinette School District, 2139 Pierce Ave, Marinette, WI 54143, with the designation on the check "Marinette High School Student Services for students basic needs".
