Angeline Cecelia Janz, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Friday March 18, 2016 at 11:43PM with her family by her side. Angeline was born April 9, 1920 in De Pere to the late Harry and Gertrude Schmitz. On May 18, 1938, she united in marriage to the late John T. Janz at St. Boniface Catholic Church, De Pere. John and Angeline celebrated 66 years of happy marriage before John's death in September of 2004.
While a member of Immaculate Conception Parish of Oneida, she was president of the Altar Society, an active member of the church choir and was involved with many other parish activities. After 40 years of farming, they owned and operated The Log Cabin Furniture Store for 20 years in Oneida. After moving to Green Bay, they assisted with managing the Raven Crest Apartments which Angeline continued to do until her death. When John and Angeline became members of Nativity of Our Lord, Angeline joined and became an active member of the Ladies Guild. Praying the rosary was an important part of her daily devotions.
Angeline was an avid golfer and bowler. She loved birds, playing her organ and mandolin. One of her favorite card games was Sheepshead. She was known for her many creative talents including her beautiful crafts and lovely needle work and baking.
Survivors include her five children, Caroline Janz, Green Bay; Mary (Mike) Stepanski, Suamico; Bart (Sandy) Janz, Colorado; Carl Janz, Oregon and Debbie (David) Robbins, De Pere; Son-in-Law, Harlan Herrmann, Two Rivers; Mary Janz, Daughter-in-Law, De Pere; her much loved seventeen grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, special godchildren Dorothy Leipens and Dennis Schmitz and many other nieces and nephews. Angeline was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, two daughters: Angeline Herrmann and Laverne Janz and one son, John Janz Jr; two brothers and Sister-in-laws, Alfred and Leonora Schmitz and Henry and Glady Schmitz, a sister, Cecelia Schmitz; a sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Merlin Counihan, two grandchildren, Brenda Herrmann and Jeremy Janz; grandparents and numerous other relatives.
Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street De Pere from after 4:00PM on Tuesday March 22, 2016. The evening will come to a close with a parish prayer service at 7:30PM. Visitation will continue after 9:30AM Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church until time of services. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. John H.
