Angeline "Rose" Kerstetter, 104, Oneida, journeyed on to the spirit world Tuesday, May 30, 2023. She was born September 5, 1918, in Oneida to the late John P. and Lillian (Archiquette) Skenandore.

Rose was a proud veteran of the United States Army. On March 4, 1950, she married Lawrence Kerstetter in Indiana. Rose was a secretary until 1970 at University of Hartford in Connecticut. She then went on to graduate from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 1979. With her passion for Oneida pottery making, she became one of a few artists to revive the traditional form.

She was honored in the New York Historical Society magazine for her pottery work. Rose also has a piece of pottery on permanent display at the New York State Museum, Albany, NY.

She is survived by her two sons; Joseph Skenandore, NM., Thomas Kerstetter, NM., and one daughter Dori Gilbert, AZ. Rose is further survived by 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and 1 grandchild.

Friends may call at Church of the Holy Apostles in Oneida, on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 9:00AM – 11:00AM. The Mass of

Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. James Biegler and Deacon Deborah Heckel officiating. Burial will follow with full military rites. Ryan Funeral Home, De Pere, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that food donations to be made to the Oneida Nation Food Pantry at N7372 Water Circle Place, Oneida.
