IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlene E.
Van Dreel
June 28, 1934 – February 6, 2025
Arlene E. Van Dreel (Hooper), age 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on February 6, 2025. Born June 28, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Genevieve (Bukowski) Hooper. She married the love of her life, Donald Van Dreel, on May 30, 1964, in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Arlene was a family-oriented woman who cherished her loved ones more than anything else. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting her family's needs before her own. She never missed a chance to spend time with her children and grandchildren; her love and affection for them were evident in everything she did.
Following years of hard work, Arlene's retirement was filled with her favorite things: spending time with her loving family, reading, traveling, playing Scrabble with anyone who was available, and whatever tickled her fancy at the time. Arlene also enjoyed crafting, especially with the help of children.
Left to cherish her memory are 3 daughters, Dawn (Dale/Curly) Matzke, Gail (Eric) Krawczyk, and Lynn (Mark) Dehnel; 10 grandchildren, Leah Vande Hey (Tyler Bartels), Stephanie (Derek) Tilkens, Katie (Matthew) Linzmeier, and their father Mark Eichhorst, Anya, Alex, Ayden, and Adam Krawczyk, and Sarah, Joshua, and Rachel Dehnel; 7 great-grandchildren, Abby and Lauren Vande Hey, Clayton and Olivia Tilkens, Robbie, Donny and Markie Linzmeier; siblings John (Leslyn) Hooper and Cathy (Joe) Maternoski; brother-in-law Gerald Vander Velden and many nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Van Dreel, her mother, Genevieve, her father, Harry Hooper, who died in WWII, and her stepdad, Louis Ostrenga, a caring and loving man; two sisters, Beverly (Tom) Tolan and Jean Vander Velden; nephew, Jeff Tolan; and nieces, Jean Tolan and Lori Vander Velden.
Arlene's family will greet friends and relatives at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 North 10th Street, De Pere, on Friday, February 14, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at 9:00 am at Saints Edward and Isidore Church, 3667 Flintville Road, Green Bay, WI 54313, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am, with Fr. Scott Valentyn officiating.
Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Unity Hospice team for their compassionate care, dedication, and unwavering support during our mother's final days. Their kindness and professionalism made a difficult time more bearable, and we will be forever grateful for the comfort they provided both to her and our family.
