Audrey Ann Calaway, 70, DePere, died Thursday, June 4th, 2009 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Audrey was born May 3rd, 1939, the daughter of the late Wilford and Edna (Kazik) Van Lanen. She married Clarence Calaway on September 5th, 1959.
Audrey was a Nicolet High School graduate, class of 1958. Audrey's first job was at Derek's A&W as a carhop. She then moved on to Fort Howard Paper Co. She finished her career at St. Norbert's College with 23 years in custodial services. Her most fulfilling job was as a volunteer at Outreach Services in DePere.
Audrey enjoyed flower gardening, going up north, and NASCAR races. She was also an avid Packer fan. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas when the family gathered for brunch.
Audrey is survived by her husband, Clarence; children, Barbara (Mark) Ninham, Lawrence (Toni) Calaway, Janet Calaway, Daniel (Jenny) Calaway, Bruce Calaway, William (Jackie) Calaway; grandchildren, Curtis Ninham, Kimberly Ninham, Cory Ninham, Rachel Schulze, Becky (Tim) Ottery, Travis Schulze, Devin Calaway, Amy Calaway, Emily Calaway, Josh Calaway, Ben Calaway; great-grandchildren, Nathan Ninham, Andrew Ninham, Micah Ottery, Keegan Ottery, Taliyah Ninham; sister, Alice Stuebs; brother, William (Camille) Van Lanen; aunts, Caroline Kazik, Dorothy (William) Mazzina; in-laws, Arlene Bogenschutz, Sylvester (Pat) Calaway, Bernard (Margaret) Calaway; special friends, Joann Terrien, Peggy Alfred, Ellie Teresinski and other relatives and friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Van Lanen; and brother-in-law, Herb Stuebs.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive, De Pere, Monday, June 8th, 2009 from 9am to time of service. The Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 11 am with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. Burial will take in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
