Audrey L. Maritato, 98, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Green Bay. She was born in Racine on December 11, 1927, to Henry and Anna (Jung) Zirkelbach. On January 23, 1953, she married Anthony Maritato in Valparaiso, IN.
Some of her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and embroidery. She was a very creative cook and could make the best tasting Italian and German dishes.
Audrey was loved and appreciated by her husband Anthony, who preceded her in death on October 16, 2012.
She is survived by her son; James (Eva) Maritato, Katy, TX, and daughters; Carolyn "Carrie" Maritato, De Pere, and Sue (Ken) VanDen Heuvel, Dyckesville. Her five grandchildren; Dana (Timothea) VanDen Heuvel, Jesica VanDen Heuvel, Adam (Laura) Maritato, Archer Bryan (Marcy) May, and Sammy Howard (Michelle) May. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren; Sebastian, Reagan, Violet, Meadow, and Ace; brother and sister-in-law David (Barbara) Zirkelbach; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Maritato, Lois Maritato, and Frank Maritato. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Maritato; siblings, Nancy Zirkelbach, Linda Gonzales, Pat (Doc) Sartell, Laurence (Elaine) Zirkelbach; brothers- and sisters-in-law Ralph (Mary), Louis, Mario, Diane Maritato, and Sylvia (John) Tenuta.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI 54301, on Friday, April 17, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating.
Audrey's final months were enhanced by the caring team from Unity Hospice: Jordin, Dawn, Olivia, and Kristen, who along with their amazing support staff made Audrey's life more comfortable.
A thank you to Caraton Commons for their compassionate care givers: Damian, Alexis, Jejuana, and many more nurses and CNAs. Also, their very special cook, Margarita, who Audrey grew fond of.
