Austin Robert Bush, 22, Green Bay, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 17, 2016 in St. Paul, MN. The son of Terry and Nan (Washechek) Bush was born July 30, 1994 in Green Bay, WI. He was a graduate of Pulaski High School and graduated on May 13, 2016 from the University of MN-Twin Cities with a major in Food Business Management and minors in Entrepreneurship from the Carlson School of Business and Applied Economics. Austin planned to begin his very promising career in the Twin Cities among many friends.
Austin loved sports of all kinds and was especially skilled at snowboarding, fishing, hunting and ice hockey. He played competitive ice hockey from age five through his senior year of high school. He holds a state record for being the only goalie ever to score shutouts for all three of his team's state tournament games including the championship game. When Lambeau hosted hockey games in 2006, Austin was the only goalie to shut out his opponent, a record that stands today. Austin's favorite thing to do was to ride his family's Sea doos and drive their boats. He loved the U of MN Gophers and never failed to cheer for the Green Bay Packers, even living in MN.
Austin was an engaging young man and engaged in life. He couldand wouldspeak with anyone about anything, and genuinely have fun doing it. He was always up for new challenges and experiences, and was always happy to help others. Simply put, he was a very kind, sweet and generous man, with no pretensions or ego; a rare combination, especially for someone so young. He was a loving son, a wonderful brother, an extraordinary uncle to his nephew and niece, a caring boyfriend and loyal friend. He brightened the lives of all who knew him, and he will be sorely missed.
Austin's family includes his parents, Nan and Terry Bush, his siblings, Lindsay (Bush) and Thomas Velarde and Nicholas and Amanda (Baer) Bush, his niece Alaura Allison Velarde and nephew Hudson Hensley Velarde, his grandparents Carol and Robert Bush and Joyce and Howard Washechek; his aunts and uncles, David and Sue Washechek, Mark and Sue Washechek, Tracy and Tom Arndt, Tom and Sue Bush Toni McBride, his girlfriend Maegan Melby and many cousins and friends.
