Barb A. Kocken, 77, De Pere, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Tuesday, April 9, 2024. She was born December 10, 1946, to the late Gordon and Louise (Tadych) Van Der Wegen.
Barb graduated from De Pere High School with the class of 1965.
On October 4, 1969, she was united in marriage to Herb Kocken at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, De Pere.
Barb started her career as a beautician, she then worked at Jubilee Foods, before joining the staff at Our Lady of Lourdes School as the Head Cook.
She enjoyed going to craft shows, as well as making crafts at home. Barb also enjoyed traveling, making casino runs, playing cards, going to the cottage, family gatherings, and get togethers with her friends. It was the titles of wife, mom, and grandma though that she cherished the most.
She is survived by her husband Herb, their children; Angel Kempen, Ron (Kathy) Kocken, Tammy Kocken, and Keith Kocken. Grandchildren; Annamaria, Fuschia, Hana, Raines, Quentin, Andreas, Siena, Zak, and Leah. Her siblings; Gary (Jane) Van Der Wegen, Cheryl (Jupian) Leung, and Lori (Randy) Lynn. Herb's family; Don (Marie) Kocken, Jim (Kathy) Kocken, Pat (Roger) Vande Hey, Bob (Sue) Kocken, Gerry Kocken, Mary Sue (Dennis) Dantoin, Lois Vieau, Judy Castelic, Bonnie (Steve) Linssen, Tom (Tina) Kocken, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, grandbaby Frances, in-laws Ed and Margaret Kocken, as well as sister-in-law Betsy Kocken, and brothers-in law Roy Vieau and Mike Castelic.
Friends may call at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere, from 4:00PM – 7:00PM Monday, April 15, 2024. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church from 9:00AM – 10:45AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. James Baraniak O.Praem. officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Special thanks to the entire staff of Bellin Hospital I.C.U., especially Ashley, Hanna, Aurora, and the members of Ashwaubenon Rescue who came to the house.
Barb gave the selfless gift of organ donation, so others could benefit.
