Obituary

Barbara Ann Miller/herzog passed away May 10, 2026 at the age of 83. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 19, 1942 to the late Donald and Irma Miller.

Graduating with an education degree from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, Barbara came to Morrison Zion Lutheran School as a temporary teacher and, after marrying, stayed in the Greenleaf area to farm and raise a family. Later earning her accounting degree, she worked in several payroll and bookkeeping positions before retiring.

A loving and resourceful mom, Barbara led by example, emphasizing the importance of God, community, and nature. Whatever her children (and grandchildren) showed interest in, she was hands-on and supportive, oftentimes stepping in as an ad-hoc teacher/leader. Admitting with a smile that she was not a "cookie baking grandma," she more than made up for it by reading countless stories to little ears, playing games (yes, even video games), and driving far and wide to attend the grandkids' recitals, holiday programs, sporting events, and awards ceremonies.

Blessed with many talents, Barbara enjoyed playing piano, the accordion, singing in the choir, sewing, and reading, but anyone who truly knew Barb recognized her happy place was outside with her flowers. An avid gardener, she was eager to share her extensive knowledge of plants and a bouquet of gorgeous blooms. Our world was more beautiful because of her.

Barbara had an appreciation for the unique and curious things in life, having the mind of an accountant and the heart of an artist. She had a way with words that the grandkids will forever hold in their hearts, including but not limited to. “Do you want some cheese with your whine?” A grandchild or a baby goat might have been interchangeably or simultaneously referred to as a “schnickelfritz.”

Barbara is survived by her children, Hans & Monique Herzog and Hera & Troy Morschauser; grandchildren, Wyatt & Brianna Juern, Adrienne & Matthew Boldt, Savannah Mujkanovic, Eli & Kortney Herzog, Justus & Jenny, Victor, Annika, and Truman Morschauser; 13 great-grandchildren, plus one due to arrive in August; as well as her siblings, Donna Wuebben and Ken & Bobby Miller, and extended relation.

Family and friends may gather on Sunday, May 17, from 1:00-3:00pm at Morrison Zion Lutheran Church, 7395 County W, Greenleaf WI 54126. The funeral service will begin immediately following visitation with Pastor James Enderle officiating. Nickel Funeral Home, Morrison, is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at West Haven, Brillion, especially the kind and patient caregivers in the memory care unit.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
