IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara J.
Wilson
May 2, 1934 – May 29, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Wilson, 90, formerly of rural De Pere. Barbara Jewel Polzin was born on May 2, 1934, in Oneida, WI to Clarence and Blanche (DeGroat) Polzin. Her early life was spent on the family farm, enjoying the companionship of her siblings and a host of cousins that lived nearby. She married Don Wilson in Oneida in 1956 and they later divorced.
Barbara attended Elm Hill School in Oneida and graduated from Nicolet High School in De Pere in 1952. She went on to earn a teaching degree from Kaukauna Normal School in 1954. She was a devoted and popular teacher at Grant School in the town of Lawrence and at Lincoln School in the town of Rockland. She later became a substitute and teacher's aide at Dickinson School in De Pere. She was also the Avon Lady in Rockland and was a member of the Rockland Homemaker's Club.
She loved music her entire life. She sang in church choirs, for many weddings and funerals and belonged to the Enna Memorial Choir.
She was also very proud of her Native American heritage and loved worshiping her personal Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was an active member of the Oneida Methodist Church, Zion Methodist Church in Green Bay, and First Congregational Church in De Pere.
Barbara is survived by her children Greg (Mary) Wilson of Union Grove, and Lori (Jim) Cleven of Morrison. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kaitlin Cleven, Travis (fiancée Alexa Ross) Cleven, Jason Cleven, Amanda (Luke) Mueller, and Jessica Wilson. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Sterling, Toryn, and Kaden, and her sisters, Carole Madl, and Faye Huchro, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Bonnie Polzin, her brothers-in-law, Joe Madl and Ted Huchro, and a special nephew, Dennis Madl.
