Bartholomew "Bert" Marshalek, 79, of De Pere, former resident of South Milwaukee, passed away on Tuesday May 29, 2012 at the Meng Residence at Unity Hospice in Ledgeview. The son of the late Frank and Ruby (Carter) Marshalek was born February 2, 1933 in Bessemer, MI. On August 6, 1960 he married Elizabeth "B.J." O'Mara at Mother of Good Hope Church in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2005.
Bert was a retired high school teacher from Oak Creek High School where he taught for thirty-three years. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Northern Michigan University and his Masters from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
Bert was father of three children, Paul (Sandy), Dave (Angela), Mary (Scott) Pratt, and five grandchildren, Katie, Hannah, Brad, Sam and A.J.; one brother, William "Bill" of Hubertus, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, BJ, as well as one brother Frank, and two sisters-in-law, Eunice and Juanita.
Family and friends may call at Divine Mercy Parish, 800 Marquette Avenue, South Milwaukee, WI 53172 from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday, June 2, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday at church with Father Bob Betz, officiating. Entombment to follow in Holy Sepulcher Mausoleum.
