Bernard "Bernie" Marcinkowski, 80, of De Pere, died Tuesday afternoon, August 5, 2014 at a local hospital. The son of the late Stephen and Marie (Trojanowicz) Marcinkowski was born May 11, 1934 in Chicago. On December 28, 1957, he married the former Carol Bacon at St. Boniface Catholic Church, De Pere. Bernie proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Marcinkowski was an instructor at Fox Valley Technical College prior to his retirement in 1996. He was an active member of St. Boniface Church, served on the Parish Council, taught CCD, and was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Abbot Pennings Council. Bernie coached Little League in De Pere for many years. His favorite past times were golf and walking with his wife, Carol. Together, they walked thousands of miles. He was devoted to his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
His family includes his wife, Carol, one son, Steven (Lorraine) Marcinkowski, two daughters, Lynn (Vaughn) Woolf, and Kelly Herson, eight grandchildren, Joe, Stephanie, John, J.T., Elizabeth, Daniel, Jackson and Ella. Bernie is further survived by his sister, Gerrie (Marcinkowski) Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dolores Vanderkelen.
Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday August 10, 2014. Visitation will continue after 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Norbert College Parish at Old St. Joe's Church, De Pere, until time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church with Father John Tourangeau, O. Praem., officiating. Entombment in Allouez Mausoleum.
