Obituary

Bernard P. "Red" Rottier age 81 of De Pere passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday morning September 26, 2012. He was born August 19, 1931 in De Pere to the late Chris and Marie (Heezen) Rottier. On October 18, 1952 he married Geri Carter at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. Bernard served his country from 1951 to 1955 in the United States Navy. He was a member of St. Boniface and the Our Lady of Lourdes in De Pere throughout his life. Bernard had worked at Ft. Howard Paper and retired from there after 35 years of service. He was a member of the De Pere Men's Club and a longtime Volunteer Fire Fighter with both the Village of Ashwaubenon and the Town of Lawrence. For over 50 years Bernard was a member of a card club with a group of friends. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Geri, his sons; Jim (Beckie) Rottier, Dale (Shelly) Rottier, his daughters; Diane McInnis, Sandy (Joe) Slimmer, Debbie (Greg) VandenLangeberg, his grandchildren; Chad (Kara), Jessica (Brian), Cheryl (Jim), Bryan (Lonni), Robert (Claudia), Will (Kate), Andrew (Rachel), Evan, Erin (Andrew), Eric, Zak, and Aaron; and 14 great grandchildren. His siblings; Dick (Mary) Rottier, Gerald (Janice) Rottier, Ray (Jan) Rottier, Peck (Joyce) Rottier, Harvey (Alice) Rottier, Bob (Jean) Rottier, Cathy Rottier, Jean Rottier also survive. Brother in laws and sister in laws that survive him include; Dale Van Erem, Arlene Weiland, Marcella (Roman) Schrieber, Melvin (Marlene) Carter, Shirley (Tony) Zettler, Marcia Carter, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his son in law; Ken McInnis, his brother Jim Rottier, his sisters Pat (Bob) Goffard, Rita Van Erem and brother in laws Ron Carter, and Herb Weiland. Friends may call at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 N. Tenth Street in De Pere from 4 8pm Friday September 28, 2012. Visitation will continue after 9am Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. Entombment will take place in the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Please go to www.ryan fh.com to send online condolences to the family.
