Obituary

Betty Jane Peters, 91, De Pere, WI, passed away peacefully early Monday morning August 16, 2021. She was born August 5, 1930, in Painesville, Ohio to the late Reynard and Sannie (Stenroos) Lanum. Betty graduated from Libertyville High School, IL, and attended Illinois Wesleyan University. On September 1, 1950, she married John R. Peters in Libertyville, IL. Betty was employed for many years by the City of Woodstock, IL. In the finance Dept. at City Hall. She was previously a member of St. John's Lutheran, Woodstock, St. Luke's Lutheran, Wisconsin Rapids and currently St. John' Lutheran, De Pere. Betty enjoyed hand craft work of all kinds, including knitting, and crocheting. She was active in the quilting club at St. John's Church, De Pere. Betty enjoyed reading and gardening and of course, loved to play cribbage and scrabble, which she often won. Betty has been a delight and an inspiration to all who have had the pleasure of knowing her. She leaves behind her beloved children; Sally Lou Hansen (companion Paul Johnson), Ann Louise (David) Keith, John Robert (Liz) Peters, as well as her seven cherished grandchildren, and two siblings, Doris Nehmer, and Nancy (Bill) Yopp, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband John Robert Peters, a brother Robert Lanum, a sister Lois Sator, and granddaughter Siri Hansen. Family and friends may visit after 9:00AM on Tuesday August 24, 2021, at St. John's Lutheran Church 1700 Lost Dauphin Rd. until time of service at 11:00AM with Pastor Cindy Warmbier – Meyer officiating. Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 25th at 10:00AM at Spring Branch Cemetery, Town of Rome, WI. Please go to www.ryanfh.com to send online condolences to the family.
