Obituary

Beverly Lois Allen was born on October 16, 1926, to John and Hazel Marlow in Stiles, WI. She passed away peacefully at Unity Hospice Residence on August 6, 2018, with her son John nearby. Bev married Norbert J. Allen on April 19, 1965 and became loving stepmother to ten wonderful stepchildren. Beverly and Norbert welcomed their son John soon thereafter. She is beloved by the Marlow family, the Allen family, her friends, and those with whom she volunteered. Her kind and caring manner, her dedication to family, her enduring faith, and her quiet strength were hallmarks of a life well-lived and a woman well-loved. Bev graduated from Denmark High School, received her Bachelor of Arts from St. Catherine College, St. Paul, MN, and her Masters of Arts in Library Science from Rosary College, Riverside, IL. From 1948 to 1992, Bev served as catalog librarian at St. Norbert College and was also Dean of Women for part of that time. Bev also performed in numerous theater productions at St. Norbert College. She enjoyed all her family immensely and connected with relatives near and far via letters, email, and social media into her late age. She was an avid reader, plant tender, and Milwaukee Brewers fan; she travelled abroad and to 48 of the 50 United States, and created beautiful gift quilts for many family members. She volunteered for many years at St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, Unity Hospice, and Literacy Green Bay, where she tutored people learning English as a second language. Bev is survived by and was deeply connected to her son John and his wife Johanna (Mattern), and grandson Jack Henry, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her brother John Marlow, stepchildren Judith (Jerome) Ullmer, Paul (Billie Greenwood), Thomas (Janese) Bice-Allen, Jane (Robert) Hanson, Judith Ann (Jerry) Berken, Mary Allen Arana (Javier Arana), Lucia Allen-Voreis (Mark Voreis), Mark (Judith Fisher), Terese (James Block), and Susan (Bruce Dethlefsen), step-grandchildren Larry Ullmer, Beth Zellner, Ellen Klimek, Claire Reinke, Tom Ullmer, Andy Allen, Matt Allen, Dan Kunesh, Lisa Robertson, and Pete Roffers, seventeen step-great grandchildren, and five step-great great grandchildren. Furthermore, Bev is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins, and other extended family, and long-time family friend Cristina. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norbert in 1991, her sister, Sister Margaret Mary Marlow, O.S.F., brothers Lloyd (Verna), Linus (Helen, Frances), Elwin (Lorraine), and sister-in-law Sigrid Marlow. The family gives special thanks to the staff of Allouez Parkside Village and Unity Hospice Residence. Visitation will be at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N.
