Blanche (Carey) Kidney, 89, of De Pere died early Saturday morning, April 23, 2011 at a local nursing home. The daughter of the late James H. and Alice (Klipstine) Lusha was born March 11, 1922 in the Town of Lawrence. Blanche was a graduate of Nicolet High School, Class of 1939. She married Claude Carey on January 24, 1948 at First Congregational Church, De Pere and he preceded her in death in June of 1980. On October 11, 1990, she married Robert Kidney at First Congregational Church, De Pere and he preceded her in death on January 31, 2000.
Blanche worked as an office manager and book keeper for many years prior to retirement in 1989. She enjoyed bowling for over 60 years and was past treasurer of the Green Bay Women's Bowling League. Blanche was inducted in to the Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1997. She was a Charter and Life-Member of the De Pere VFW Women's Auxiliary, Post 2113. A devout Christian, she was a life-member of the First Congregational Church of De Pere. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing the organ.
Survivors include her son, Bill Carey, Trevor, WI, She was preceded in death by her parents and her two husbands.
Family and friends may call after 3:00 pm Tuesday April 26, 2011 at the First Congregational Church United Church of Christ, Tenth at Cedar Streets, De Pere until time of service. Funeral Service of Celebration will be held at 6:30 pm Tuesday at the Church with Pastor Jim Pfefferkorn officiating. Burial in South Lawrence Cemetery.
