Blanche A. Powless, beloved matriarch of the Powless family, entered Eternal life Monday, February 21, 2022.
She was born December 23, 1926, in the town of Oneida, the daughter of the late Dennison and Sadie (Powless) Hill. She attended St. Mary's School for Native American Girls, Springfield, South Dakota and graduated from Green Bay East High School, Class of 1945. On September 22, 1945, she married her childhood sweetheart, Edmund C. Powless at All Saints Cathedral in Milwaukee and shared 62 years of "wedded bliss" with him along with raising five daughters.
Blanche was a member and active supporter of the Church of the Holy Apostles, Oneida, and of the Episcopal church, in general, her entire life, having served on committees at both local diocesan and national levels throughout her lifetime. She thoroughly enjoyed doing the church's work, most often beside her childhood sweetheart, Edmund. She will be greatly missed not only by her family and close friends, but also by all those who had the privilege of working with her.
Blanche is survived by four daughters, Theresa, Kathy, Dorothy (Dottie), and Barbara, seven grandchildren, Joe (Amy) Misikin, Tim (Shelly) Hughes, Henry (Wendy) Martin, Jr., Heather Martin, Sarah Miller, Katsi (Matt) Nichols, and Rachel Miller, eleven great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister-in-law, Mary Hill, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members Mrs. Beverly Skinner and family.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, Dennison and Sadie, her husband Deacon Edmund Powless, one daughter Patricia Hill, three sons-in-law, Douglas Krull, Corey Hill, and Rick Dickson, five brothers, Louis, Irvin, Sylvester, Charles, and Jerry, and three sisters, Catherine, Lorraine and Vivian.
Family and friends may call at the Church of the Holy Apostles, Oneida, WI, after 9:00 AM on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
The Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Rodger Patience and Deacon Deborah Heckel officiating burial at the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Blanche's wishes are for monetary offerings to be made to the Church of the Holy Apostles in her memory.
