Obituary

Carl Alvin VandeHei, 75, of De Pere passed away September 26th, 2024, with his wife and daughter by his side, after a two-year valiant battle to beat cancer.

Born January 27, 1949, to Clarence and Marcella (Vercauteren) Vande Hei he was the fourth of twelve children, growing up on a dairy farm near Isaar, Wisconsin. He attended Frank Dorn School, Assumption BVM Grade School, Pulaski High School, and UW-Superior and UW-GB. He wrestled in high school and was the first state champion for Pulaski in 1967.

He married Kathleen (Katie) Borowski at Assumption BVM in Pulaski on August 29, 1970. Together they have a daughter and three grandchildren. In the summer of 1968, he reported for active duty with the U. S. Army in Fort Carson, CO.

After his military service, he returned and purchased a home in De Pere where he resided for 51 years.

He was a longtime business owner of Adventure RV Center in Green Bay where he was fortunate to work with friends and family members.

His passions in life were golfing with his friends and brothers, hitting a hole in one at Wander Springs; fishing and spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him Grumps. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers fan. He greatly enjoyed attending hundreds of Packers games with friends and family, as well as a Badgers Rose Bowl and Packers Super Bowl.

Survivors include wife Katie and daughter Kara (Chad), three grandchildren: Jacob, Alex and Sam; siblings: Anne Farvour, Ed (Maureen) Vande Hei, Elmer (Wendy) Vande Hei, Theresa (Mike) Carriveau, Gloria Buckarma, Ray (Beth) Vande Hei, Donna (Jay) Rohrer, JoAnne (Frank Dombrowski) VandeHei, Jane (Bill) Treml; sister-in-law Margaret VandeHei. Carl was preceded in death by his father Clarence, mother Marcella, brothers Leo and Garold, and brother-in-law Ron Farvour.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday October 6th from 11:00 – 1:00 at Mid Vallee Golf Course.

Carl would want to thank and acknowledge Green Bay Oncology, especially Dr. Groteluschen, and the Unity Hospice Team.
