Obituary

Carlton "Butch" Knuth, 96, of De Pere died Tuesday December 9, 2014 at a local hospital. The son of the late Arthur C. and Charlotte (Cavil) Knuth was born March 19, 1918 in Wrightstown. He was a 1935 graduate of East High School, Green Bay. Butch served in the Pacific Theater in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in Battery B, 121st Field Artillery, 32nd Division. On December 22, 1945 he married Mary Messinger in Green Bay. Butch was trained as an electrician and worked with Ray Van Den Heuvel in the early years. He worked at Nicolet Paper Company for 22 years prior to retirement in 1983. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed biking and was one of the first people in Green Bay to own and ride a mountain bike. In his later years, he enjoyed harvesting hickory nuts. At 93, he became an avid Facebooker/Googler. Survivors include his wife, Mary, one son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Marilyn Knuth, three granddaughters, Heidi, Carrie and Beth, one brother, Douglas Knuth. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Linsmeyer. Private family services were held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, De Pere.
