Carol Rae Buettner, 79, De Pere, passed away December 4, 2023. She was born on January 21, 1944, in Minneapolis, to Willis "Ray" and June (Johnson) Slater.

She graduated from Bloomington High School class of 1962. She worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company until 1967. During that time she met her husband Dale Buettner. They married on March 4th, 1967 in Minneapolis and later in November she had her first child Timothy. In 1968 when Dale returned from Vietnam, they moved to Wisconsin and many years later had their second child Andrea. Throughout her life she worked various administrative office jobs but her favorite was when she worked at Ascension Lutheran in Fond Du Lac, WI as the church secretary.

Carol loved to crochet, garden, and bake in her free time. She gifted many of her crocheted masterpieces to family, friends, and those in need. Her favorite pastime was square dancing, which allowed her to travel all over the country to attend major dances. She never missed a sporting event, concert, performance, or celebration that involved her beloved grandchildren. She had an effortless sense of humor and always wore a smile on her face.

Carol is survived by her husband, her daughter, Andrea (Chad) Federman, 2 grandchildren, Dane and Olivia, her brother, Jerry (Karen) Slater, her sister, Linda (Rick) Breyette, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Timothy Buettner, and her half-brother Doran Slater.

Friends and family may come to call on Monday, December 11 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Ryan Funeral Home 305 N Tenth Street De Pere. A service will start immediately following the visitation at 5:00 PM with Pastor Stuart Dornfeld officiating.
