Carol Ann Schierl, 85, born on May 10, 1939, in Flint, Michigan to the late Alphonse J. and Cecile (Jankowski) O'Hara, passed away on October 13, 2024. Carol attended grade school and high school in Detroit, Michigan and college at Michigan State University. On October 5, 1985, Carol married Paul Schierl who predeceased her on October 23, 2017.
Carol lived an incredible life with unflinching devotion to her faith, family, friends and community. Her magnanimous spirit and wit lifted many and she brought 1000% to everything she did. She was a foster parent, an avid traveler and reader, a fast driver, and she found great fulfillment in her work with The Salvation Army, Cornerstone Foundation and many other community organizations. She was compassionate, classy, indomitable, generous and full of love.
Carol is survived by her two children: Sean Twomey and Meghan (Anurag) Khaitan; five step-children: Michael (Valerie) Schierl, Kathryn Schierl, Susan Schierl (Sean) Sullivan, David (Esther) Schierl, Daniel (Tatyana) Schierl; nineteen grandchildren: Indira Khaitan, Haley Khaitan, Jack Khaitan, Madeline Schierl, Zachary Schierl, Isabella Schierl, Sarah Schierl, Elizabeth Schierl, David (Virginia) Williams, Monique Williams (Roland) Flores, Clare Sullivan, Liam Sullivan, Denise Sullivan, Rosemary Sullivan, Abigail Schierl, Anna Schierl, Jonathan Schierl, Joshua Schierl, Jacob Schierl; and three great-grandchildren: Miguel, Aidan and Joseph Flores.
Carol is also survived by her late husband Paul's "Little Brother" from the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, Nick Hafeman; her beloved dog, Gus; and many other dear relatives and friends.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, her parents, Alphonse and Cecile, her brother and sister-in law, Patrick and Jean O'Hara, and her first husband, Timothy Twomey.
Family and friends may visit at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1307 Lourdes Avenue, De Pere, on Saturday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Reverend James Baraniak, O. Praem., will officiate and be the homilist. Interment will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Paul J. Schierl Scholarship Endowment for GRACE, Green Bay Area Catholic Education. To extend online condolences to the Schierl family, please visit www.ryanfh.com.
