Obituary

Caroll M. Jones, aged 91, of De Pere, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 30, 2026. She was born on August 9, 1934, in Unity, Wisconsin, to the late Raymond and Ada (Holman) Goutcher. Caroll spent her childhood on the family farm in Unity before relocating to Kimberly, Wisconsin in 1948, and graduated from Kimberly High School in 1952.

Following high school, Caroll worked at a dental office and the Appleton Public Library for several years. In 1959, she met the late Fred Jones at a church singles mixer—their mutual love of music and dance sparked their connection. They were married on July 2, 1960, at Emmanuel Evangelical United Brethren Church in Appleton, Wisconsin.

A devoted family member, Caroll raised four sons and helped care for one granddaughter. She attended their school events and cherished spending time with her family, especially as she grew older. Always eager to lend a hand, Caroll enjoyed sewing and needlework, making and mending clothes for family, relatives and friends.

As she raised her family, Caroll exhibited a strong work ethic rooted in her farming background. She worked as an aide in the Intra-Media Center (IMC) at West De Pere High School from January 1978 until June 1999, where she repaired books and managed classroom media deliveries. Additionally, she sold tickets at most home sporting events and often shared how much she enjoyed relaxing and sharing a bag of popcorn with her dog Missy after each game.

During her retirement in 1999, Caroll enjoyed working part-time at Sav-Half Greeting Cards and staying active doing water aerobics with her Silver Sneakers friends at the YMCA.

Faith was central to Caroll's life; she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and served on many boards and committees. She was baptized as a believer in June 2001. Caroll is remembered for her kindness, dedication to her family, and active involvement in her community and church.

Caroll is survived by her sons Steve Jones (Green Bay), Kevin Jones (Green Bay), Ron (Shawn) Jones (De Pere), and Chris (Jessica) Jones (Wrightstown); granddaughter Kristin Jones (Green Bay); niece Kay (Harvey) Cota (Green Bay); step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Many cousins and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, father- and mother-in-law Willard and Sarah Jones, brother- and sister-in-law Bill and Doris Jones, and many aunts and uncles.

Family and friends may call at Union Congregational Church UCC, 716 S. Madison St. Green Bay, WI, on Friday February 27, 2026, for visitation starting at 9:00am until the time of service at 12:00pm. Rev. Bridget Flad Daniels will be celebrating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Unity Hospice, Violet Meadows, and Cornerstone Caregiving for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, a few memorial funds will be established in Caroll's name.
