Obituary

Cecilia Marie (Vonck) Vande Loo, 92, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 28, 2010, in the company of loving family members. Cecilia was born September 10, 1917 in Allouez, WI, daughter of the late Frank and Marie (Keysers) Vonck. Cecilia married Francis Vande Loo of De Pere, WI, on June 17, 1939, in Appleton. In her youth, Cecilia lived in Kimberly and Appleton, where she graduated from Appleton High School. After graduation, she worked for an Appleton law firm. Prior to World War II, Cecilia and Francis' home was in Brillion. Following the War, they made their home and raised their family in Wrightstown. They lived their final years in De Pere. Cecilia was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family in De Pere. Her strong faith, her deep love for her husband and their seven children, and her desire to help others, guided her life. Cecilia was a member of the Brown County Medical Association Auxiliary, Our Lady of Charities Guild, the Hilly Haven Women's Golf League, and an officer in the Christian Mothers Society. She volunteered her time at St. Paul's Catholic School and Church in Wrightstown, Brown County Mental Health Center, Rennes Rehab and Health Center, St. Vincent de Paul, Meals on Wheels, and The Abbot Pennings Foundation. Cecilia donated time as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America. She was a Troop Leader in the Girl Scouts of America, as well as an advisor for the Marian Award. For a number of years, Cecilia and Francis taught religious education and led groups in the Renew program. Cecilia cherished a wide variety of music, her beautiful flower gardens, her children's activities and any type of sports activity, but especially golf and basketball. She enjoyed entertaining, complemented by her flair for cooking and baking. Cecilia and Francis enjoyed spending their winters during retirement in Arizona and Florida. A special relationship with her grandchildren brought her great happiness. Cecilia is survived by her children Francis Bud (Jan) Vande Loo, Winter Springs, FL, Patricia (Dick Micek) Hogan, Arvada, CO, Ronald (Darlene Atkins) Vande Loo, Washington D.C., Susan (Charles) Pauly, Fishersville, VA, Marcy (Dave) Kopecko, Grafton, WI, Stephen (Debbie) Vande Loo, Roswell, GA, and Jeff (Candie) Vande Loo, Suamico, WI; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In April, 2010, Francis, her husband for over 70 years, preceded Cecilia in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers Theodore and Norbert Vonck ; sisters Roberta Mauel, Genevieve Busch, and Dorothy Muntner. Visitation for Cecilia will be Sunday, August 1, 2010 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth St, De Pere from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday, August 2, 2010 at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1307 Lourdes Ave, De Pere from 2:00 PM until time of Mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 4:00 PM with Fr. Tim Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Concelebrants will include Bishop Robert Morneau, Fr. Willard VanDeLoo, Fr. Conrad Kratz, O. Praem, Fr. James Baraniak, O. Praem, and Fr. John Bostwick, O. Praem.
