Charles "Chuck" D. Lau, 70, of Green Bay, died early Monday morning, February 22, 2010 at home, surrounded by his family and friends. Chuck had battled bile duct cancer for a few months. The son of the late Charles W. and Ora (Ahlers) Lau was born March 18, 1939 in Sturgeon Bay. He married the former Donna M. Skenandore at Holy Apostles Episcopal Church on October 25, 1969. The couple recently celebrated forty years of marriage together.
Chuck graduated from Concordia High School in Milwaukee and attended NWTC, in the Engineering Technology Program. He had worked for several engineering companies, including Northwest Engineering from 1969 to 1980. He especially enjoyed his last position as construction inspector for the Village of Ashwaubenon. Mr. Lau retired in 2004. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and Nascar. Chuck was a past member of the Green Bay Elks Club.
Survivors include his wife, Donna, several nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews, and his "adopted son" Roger (Brenda) and Katie Steinfeldt, as well as brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Kathaleen Dahms, his mother and father-in-law, Flora and Lynas Skenandore and three brothers-in-law.
Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street De Pere from 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday February 24, 2010. Visitation will continue after 9:00 am Thursday at the funeral home until the funeral procession leaves for church at 10:30 am. There will be no visitation at church on Thursday morning. Funeral Services will be conducted at Hope Lutheran Church, 700 South Superior Street, De Pere at 11:00 am Thursday with Pastor Matthew J. Christians, officiating.
