Obituary

Cheryl Alice Doxtater, 75, passed away peacefully at her home in the town of Oneida, Wisconsin on Monday, August 5th, 2024, with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Marshfield, WI, on September 29th, 1948, to her parents Orville Phillips and Joyce Herdrich.

Cheryl fondly spoke of a childhood of playing around her uncle's farm and wearing blue jeans instead of skirts. She attended Seymour High School and graduated in 1967. Shortly after graduating, she met her forever road trip partner and love of her life Wayne Doxtater at a teenage bar where they talked for hours in their mustangs. Their first date was New Year's Eve 1967 where they watched the Ice Bowl together and they were married at First Methodist Church on June 8, 1968. After 30 years of marriage in 1998, Wayne and their children surprised Cheryl with a vow renewal. They just celebrated 56 years of marriage together in Seymour, WI this summer.

Cheryl started her career in the paper industry as a worker in the mail room and worked her way up to executive administrative assistant. She worked for Appleton Papers for approximately 35 years and happily retired in 2010. Throughout her years of working for the paper industry, Cheryl worked diligently to use her passion for artistry and to paint wooden crafts created by her husband. Together they sold them at craft shows throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. She painted and attended craft shows well into her retirement years until aging limited her abilities.

Cheryl's love language was cooking and baking delicious new recipes for her family. She established having signature family dinners every Sunday night within her loving home. She is especially remembered for her way of making Swedish pancakes for breakfast, German fudge cake for birthdays, and scrumptious homemade pies for Thanksgiving. She will be missed tremendously for her storytelling, sweet smile and warm hugs. She will also be remembered for faithfully attending extracurricular activities, graduations and sporting events for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband and family are very thankful for all the years of camping trips, family holiday dinners and family picnics together.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Wayne Doxtater; her children, Dan Doxtater and Jodi (John) Duggan; her grandchildren, Donovan (Ashley) Duggan, Dustin (Sara) Duggan, Autumn (Nathan) Kelley, JD (Alex) Duggan; and her great grandchildren, Koda, Elsa, Wyatt, and Aria; siblings Warren (Judy) Phillips, Charla Phillips, Glenn (Pat) Phillips, Valerie Phillips; her in-laws Barbara (Mike) Mendolla; Reginald (Jean) Doxtater; Linda (Jerry) Miller; Connie Doxtater; Marsha Doxtater; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville Phillips and Joyce Herdrich; her son, David Doxtater; Becky Phillips; Ronald (Nancy, Helen, Rita) Doxtater; Leroy Doxtater; Penny (Bruce) Jordan; Robert Anderson; and Archie Doxtater.
