Clarence Boyd Shaurette, Sr. (Pops), 87, a longtime Green Bay resident, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at Bellin Hospital with his family by his side.
Pops was born on September 29, 1926 to the late John and Frances (Scott) Shaurette in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and raised in a large family in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Pops served in the Merchant Marines where he earned several medals. It is also where he learned to cook. Cooking was a favorite past time as was a fierce loyalty to "his team... the Chicago Cubbies". Pops also enjoyed fishing; attending Chicago Cubs baseball games with his sons; being outside; taking care of his birds and the many large family gatherings he was a part of. Pops enjoyed his many interactions with others, including Pastor Linda and Jim from Manna. Pops was always quick to share a story and he loved to tell jokes.
Pops loved his family very much. He is survived by five children and their families: Clarence Shaurette Jr. "Sonny", Renee and Ted Maloney, Chris Shaurette, Lisa Shaurette, Jessica and Kent Henderson; 19 grandchildren: Amanda (Ryan), Amy, Billy Joe, Casey (Tabitha), Troy, Sylvia, Jordan, Robert, Dustin, Eric, Ryan, Sara, Kimberly, Tina, Cory, Taylor, Kendall (Bree), Kent Lee and Jeana; 17 great grandchildren. Pops is also survived by his best friend and mother of his children, LaVerne Besaw, and two sisters: Dolores (Phil) Seeburger and Sandrea Otradovec along with MANY nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Pops was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Gordon, Herbert, Bernard, Fred, and Darwin; sisters: Ruth Dollak and Nellie Cain; father-in-law; mother-in-law; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are encouraged to gather at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 North Tenth Street, on Monday, November 18, 2013 from 11:00am until 1:00pm when a funeral service will be held with Pastor Linda Hogenson officiating.
