Clayton Edward "Casey" Kolb, 100, De Pere died on September 3, 2023. The son of the late Edward and Margaret (Van Vonderen) Kolb was born July 31, 1923, in De Pere. Casey was a veteran of WWII and served in the U.S. Air Force as a B-29 Navigator. He served in the Air Force Reserve until 1955 when he retired as 2nd Lieutenant. Casey attended the University of Buffalo. On June 14, 1947, he married the former Norma Jane Schumerth at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere. The couple lived in De Pere their entire lives.
Mr. Kolb was associated with Ford's Purity Bakery for fifty plus years and retired as owner and general manager in 1989. He served on the Board of Directors for the Valley Bakers Cooperative for over thirty years where he was President for sixteen years. Always active in our community, Casey was on the Board of Directors of the State Bank of De Pere for sixteen years, was a proud member of the Norbertine Associates and was a Board Member of Mt. Olivet Cemetery Association. He served for many years on the De Pere Police and Fire Commission, belonged to the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Order of Foresters, served as Trustee as St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in De Pere, was Past Treasurer of De Pere Chamber of Commerce, member of the De Pere Businessmen's Association and U. S. Air Force Reserve, Retired. Following retirement from Ford's Bakery, Casey worked part-time at Ryan Funeral Home in De Pere for over 25 years.
Casey is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg (Maribeth) Kolb, Peoria, IL; Steve (Karen) Kolb, Wauwatosa; Rick (Eileen) Kolb, Allouez; two daughters and one son-in-law, Beth (Richard) Theiler, Tomahawk; Sarah Thompson, Crivitz; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Casey was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jane; his brother Kenneth Kolb and his sister, Florence Aerts.
Friends may call at St Francis Xavier Church, 220 S Michigan St. in De Pere from 9:00am to 11:00am on Monday, September 11, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
