Clyde Peter
Baeten
December 30, 1931 – March 30, 2026
Clyde Peter Baeten, 94, passed away peacefully at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center on Monday, March 30, 2026, with his great-grandson Blake by his side. He was born on December 30, 1931, in De Pere, Wisconsin, the son of the late John and Josephine (VandenBranden) Baeten.
Clyde graduated from West De Pere High School. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served from 1952 to 1960. Upon discharge, he went to business college for one year. On September 16, 1961, he was united in marriage to Sonia (Sorenson) Baeten, in De Pere, Wisconsin. Together they shared 64 years of marriage, raising their 3 children in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Clyde’s career started as a pressman with the Green Bay Press-Gazette. When they went on strike, he became one of the founders and the Business Manager of the Daily News, which eventually became the News Chronicle. Upon his retirement, he and Sonia moved up to Chute Pond. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time on the water fishing, as long as he didn’t catch any rock bass. They made many life-long friends over the years spent there. In 2023 they moved back to Green Bay to be closer to family.
Clyde is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sonia, and his children, Barb (Ken) Lemerond, Pat (Tammy) Baeten and Scott Baeten. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Brianna (Scott) Hunt, Brent (Emily) Lemerond, Ashley Brunette, Makayla (Brandi) Baeten, Jason Baeten and Jared Baeten. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren, Blake Geraty, Violet Lemerond, Hudson Lemerond, Ja’Kobe Baeten and Brinlee Baeten, sister-in-law, Joan Baeten and brother-in-law Tom Mott. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers and their wives, Frank (Dorothy) Baeten, Dick (Lisa) Baeten, and Merle (first wife Pat) Baeten, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Shorty and Ruth Sorenson, sister-in-law, Carol Mott, his great-granddaughter Anilah Baeten and nieces and nephews.
