Dale Hubert Buettner, 79, De Pere, passed away April 10, 2024 . He was born on October 3, 1944 in Shawano, to Hubert and Henrietta (Kunsche) Buettner.
He graduated from Shawano High School class of 1962 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1966. Prior to being drafted, He met his wife, Carol Slater. They were married on March 4, 1967 in Minneapolis and in November they had their first child, Timothy. Dale was drafted into the US Army in 1966 and he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. In 1968, when he received his honorable discharge, they moved to Shawano and many years later had their second child, Andrea.
Dale worked in the banking industry until he retired. He held various management positions for different banks.
He always believed in service above self. Dale was a member of the Lions Club, The Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club. He served on the Shadow Ridge Condominium Board for 18 years as Treasurer.
His grandchildren were the love of his life. He always attended their sporting events, concert performances, plays and musical performances. His favorite pastime was square dancing. This allowed them to travel all over the country to attend major dances.
After Carol passed, Dale tried to live by the last speech given by Jimmy Valvano who had pancreatic cancer. There are three things we should do every day. Number one is laugh. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy.
Dale is survived by his daughter, Andrea (Chad) Federman; grandchildren, Dane and Olivia; his sister, Audrey Sperberg; and brothers, Neil (Mary) Buettner and Steve (Lori) Buettner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol; son, Timothy Buettner and brother-in-law Leroy Sperberg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to your favorite charity or The Vince Lombardi Cancer Treatment Center at Aurora BayCare Clinic.
A celebration of life will be held at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, 20243. A memorial service will take place at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor Stuart Dornfeld officiating. Military Honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
