Obituary

David L. Kuss, 70, of Ashwaubenon, passed away peacefully at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, following complications from a double lung transplant.

David was born on April 17, 1956, in Algoma, Wisconsin, to Arnold and Gloria (Coenen) Kuss. He graduated from Algoma High School in 1974 and from Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) in 1976 with an associate degree in accounting.

On August 14, 1976, David married his “Little Woman,” Joan Tiede, in Green Bay. Together, they shared 50 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, family, and countless memories.

Throughout his career, David worked in various occupations, including Kmart, The White Store, and Amerhart. He and his family also owned and operated their own business, Seed World.

David enjoyed many things in life, including cruising, reading, oil painting, cooking, listening to music, meticulously caring for his lawn, and walking with his wife every day. His favorite place to be, however, was on the water with his family, where he proudly served as captain of his dream boat, the Panacea. He also cherished attending his grandchildren’s many activities and being an active part of their lives.

To his grandchildren, David was affectionately known as “Papa” and became known as the “Yes Man,” because he could rarely say no to anything they asked. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

David is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; his children, Angela (Tom) Knigge and Adam (Kristin) Kuss; his grandchildren, Kinsley and Kyla Knigge, Brycen and Adelyn Kuss, and step-granddaughter Brianna Knigge.

He is further survived by his mother, Gloria Meyers; his siblings, Steven (Sally) Kuss, Kenneth (Toni) Kuss, and Susan (Loren) Iwen; his step-siblings, Craig (Audra) Meyers, Julie (Cory) Vetters, Timothy (Shelly) Meyers, and Wendy Van Den Plas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Kuss; stepfather, James Meyers; father-in-law, Warren Tiede; mother-in-law, Phyllis Tiede; and brothers-in-law, John and Paul Tiede.

Friends may call at Ryan Funeral Home, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Robb McClintock will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established with funds going toward organizations dear to David’s heart.

David’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Bellin ICU, the staff at Froedtert CVICU and TICU, and the Froedtert Pulmonary Transplant Team for the loving care they provided to David and his family. The family would also like to thank all of their friends, family members, and coworkers who supported them throughout this journey.

David will be remembered for his love of family, his generous heart, his sense of humor, and the many memories he created with those he loved most.
