Obituary

David (Dave) Stencil, 59, of De Pere, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon August 14, 2010, from natural causes, while spending time boating with his family and friends. Dave was born on October 16, 1950 in Green Bay to Richard and Phyllis (Courchaine) Stencil. He was graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1969, and immediately joined the Army where he served his country until 1975, serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. On October 3, 1986, he married Barbara Turriff at St. Willebrord Church in Green Bay. He was employed by Schneider and also owned Dave's Stump and Tree Removal. Dave was a longtime member of the Magnetos Motorcycle Club as well as the Green Bay Yachting Club. Dave had a heart of gold. He was always the first to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Survivors include his wife, Barb, daughter Tara Marie, who he loved very much. He is further survived by his father, Richard Stencil, his two brothers, Fr. Steve Stencil (Tempe, AZ), Andy (Jane) Stencil, one sister, Julie (Paul) Defnet, his mother-in-law, Zeta Turriff, brothers and sisters-in-law, Tim Turriff, Jeff Turriff, Terri (David) Gay, and Amy Turriff. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kelly (Ron) Stencil, Tim (Amanda) Stencil, Ann Defnet, Mary Defnet, Chelsea Gay, Danny Gay, Miranda Turriff, Logan Turriff, Devin Turriff, and a special great-nephew, Gabriel. He was preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Stencil and his father-in-law, Donald Turriff. Friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Parish Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue after 9:00 am Thursday at St. Willebrord Catholic Church, Green Bay until time of service. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 am Thursday at the Church with Father Ken DeGroot, O. Praem., officiating.
