Obituary

Debra "Debbie" Ann Nordstrom (63), resident of Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 27, 2020. She was born on April 22, 1957 to the late Victor and Charlotte (Wallander) Sterk of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. She attended Sheboygan North High School and graduated in 1975. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Ronnie on September 19, 1981 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, where Debbie also attended grade school. Debbie was an employee of Schnieder National for 25+ years in the document services department. During her years of employment she gained many lifelong friends. She was able to retire in 2019 after many dedicated years of service. Debbie had multiple hobbies and activities she enjoyed. She loved completing puzzles, reading, and coloring. She also enjoyed every opportunity to bake up some tasty sweet treats. She especially looked forward to her annual holiday cookie baking weekend with some of her favorite loved ones. Debbie also enjoyed fishing at her cabin on Montana Lake and held the title of the Bass Master after catching a 19.5 inch bass. She never let her family live that down. Of all of her hobbies and activities, her absolute favorite was spending time with her family and friends. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of almost 39 years, Ronnie, their feline companion Chevelle, her daughter Melissa (Brad) Fisher, and her son Jacob (Tasha) Nordstrom. She especially loved being a "Mima" to Carson (8) and Alaina (3) Fisher, and Evanie Nordstrom (1). She is also survived by her brothers Randy (Kris) Sterk and Gary (Monica) Sterk, and sister Sue (Greg) Thiel, brother-in-laws Scott (Judy) Nordstrom and Rick Nordstrom. She is further survived by many close nieces and nephews as well as several great nieces and great nephews. Debbie was greeted in heaven by her parents Victor and Charlotte Sterk, mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Royal Nordstrom as well as many of her aunts and uncles. In addition to her human family, her beloved feline pet Kiko. Debbie was known for her strong sense of courage while she fought through her 2.5 year battle with cancer. Debbie and her family were shocked with the news of her diagnosis in April of 2018. She received many rounds of chemotherapy and multiple radiation treatments with her friends and family by her side. Even through her grueling battle she always found reasons to smile and enjoy the life God gave to her. A visitation in her honor will take place on Monday, August 31, 2020 from 10:00-11:00am with a service to follow at 11:00am at Fort Howard Memorial Chapel, 1350 North Military Avenue, Green Bay Wisconsin 54303. A private family entombment will take place immediately following the service. Considering the unfortunate circumstances of the current pandemic of Covid-19 face masks will be required within the establishment. Her family also requests anybody who has been exposed to the virus within the past 14 days pay their respects at a later time. A social gathering will take place to celebrate Debbie at a later date. Information to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Patient Assistance Fund at the Bellin Cancer Team as well as Unity Hospice. Debbie and her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the amazing staff at the Bellin Cancer Team as well as the helping hands from the nurses with Unity Hospice. The family cannot say enough about the dedicated care she received during her battle. Without them Debbie's life would not have been enjoyed to its fullest.
