Obituary

Mrs. Robert (Delores Mary) McCabe, 82, was called to Heaven on Friday morning, November 20, 2009 at Ledgeview Nursing Home in De Pere. Delores was born on May 11, 1927 in Kaukauna to Bernard and Mary (Vieau) Vande Hei. She was the fourth of 9 children. On November 19, 1946 Delores married Robert "Bob" McCabe. The two of them just celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on Thursday. Delores and Bob were devoted Catholics, and together raised 11 children. Delores was completely devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially Our Lady of Fatima. She was a lifelong member of the Blue Army of Fatima. Delores worked at the Union Hotel in De Pere for over twenty years as a housekeeper. Delores had compassion and love for animals, especially the many dogs and cats the family had over the years. Delores is survived by her husband, Robert, children Thomas (Sue) McCabe, Linda (David) Neuser, Kay (Nick) Moore, Dean (Debbie) McCabe, Patrick (Cindy) McCabe, Michael McCabe (and special friend Kim) Mary (Thom) Hodkiewicz, Randall (Linda) McCabe, twenty four grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother David (Bracket) Vande Hei, and one sister Val Pytel. Delores was preceded in death by three children: Barbara, Mark, and Jack, her grandson Calvin, as well as one daughter- in- law Mary (Hermsen) McCabe. She was also preceded in death by three sisters Inez, Helen and Regina, her brother Myron Vande Hei and infant brothers Darwin and William. Family and friends may call at RYAN FUNERAL HOME 305 North Tenth Street, De Pere from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue after 9:00 am Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, De Pere until time of service. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday at the church with Father Tim Shillcox, O. Praem, officiating. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Walnut Grove Assisted Living and Ledgeview Nursing Home, both in De Pere, for their kind and considerate care of Delores. They would also like to thank Fr. Tim Shillcox for bringing the Sacraments of Anointing of the Sick and Holy Eucharist to Mom (and Dad) the day before their anniversary as it prepared Mom for death.
